Mills Simultaneous 1 (Matt's Mess)

The Mills Simultaneous tricks are the result of juggling Mills Mess but throwing two of the balls simultaneously rather than throwing them one at a time. Mills Simultaneous 1 is the popular one but one day I had a brilliant flash of inspiration & realised that there are three different permutations for pairing up the throws in Mills Mess, this lead me to discovering Mills Simultaneous 2 & Mills Simultaneous 3. Original names I know, that's where my genius came to a sudden stop.

Start off by juggling a standard Columns pattern, one up in the middle & two up on the outside. Add in the occasional Crossunder when you catch the two balls. A crossunder is when you catch two balls then cross your arms over before throwing the two balls back up in vertical columns. Uncross your arms before you catch the balls again. You may want to read or reread the Crossunder tutorial before continuing with this trick.

When you do a crossunder alternate between crossing your arms left over right & right over left. Count along as you juggle, say 1 when you throw a single ball & 2 when you throw a pair, "1, 2, 1, 2, 1..." As you juggle & put in a crossunder say, "1, 2, 1, Cross, 1, 2..." Try & work up to doing a crossunder every time you catch the two balls together, remember to cross the arms left over right & right over left alternately.

The centre ball should also be caught with alternate hands. The catch is made while the hands are uncrossing, just before the lower hand passes underneath the other hand. Always catch the centre ball with the hand that was on the bottom.

Now instead of throwing the centre ball up in the middle, send it round in a reverse figure of eight (thrown from the outside caught on the inside). When you catch the ball with the lower hand, that hand is moving to the outside of the pattern. Continue that movement after making the catch, carry the ball to the outside & throw the centre ball Over the top of the outside ball so that it will land in between the two columns.

That's all there is to it.

Try & get the pattern as low as possible, make all throws to the same height as a normal cascade or Mills Mess pattern. Also try & get the two simultaneous throws as equal as you can, really focus on getting the crossing of the hands & the lifting of the balls as one really smooth motion.
